reat Things Can Be Free: The Best in Free iPhone Apps

Plenty of iPhone apps seek to entertain, organize or give us a boost of technology, but many of the good ones will cost you, if only a few dollars. When you consider that there are thousands of iPhone apps available, those few dollars can easily add up to eat a big portion of your bank account. The unspoken truth, however, is that many of these iPhone apps are completely free. Though they may not revolutionize your music library, they may tell you where you’re going or help organize your clutter schedule. These useful apps come free for the taking.

Flashlight – Flashlights come in handy, and this one comes right in your phone. This iPhone app offers bright colors of illumination so you can find your way down a dark staircase, root through the car for your keys, or check out the map you’re reading in the dark. It always helps to keep a light handy, especially when the light is actually your cell phone. It’s one of the iPhone apps that are worth keeping around.

iBear Timer – This iPhone app helps you keep track of the exact time that has elapsed after an important event or the remaining time that exists before an event happens. It’s great for when you have an important event to plan for, or a good conversation piece for knowing how long ago it was since you passed your final exam and got a diploma. This is one of those iPhone apps that can be used for fun as well as function. I use it to keep track of meetings, but it’s also useful to see how long it is until the weekend too.

If Found Please – If you lose your iPhone, this app might help you find it again. It’s simple but useful, displaying customized information on your wallpaper so someone knows how to locate you if they find your phone. It even works when the phone is locked.

Lotto Shake – Want to play the Lotto but run out of number combination’s? With this iPhone app, you just shake the phone for a random number combination. It works for the Daily Play, Thunderball, the UK Lotto and Euro Millions. If your iPhone number wins, there’s no reason you have to share the winnings with your iPhone, but it might be nice if you took it out to dinner to show your thanks. iPhone apps need to feel appreciated.

Speak To All Drivers: Get An Ipod Car Connection

A common looking item these days is the iPod. These media players are a popular device. They are completely portable. An exciting option available to vehicle owners is the car connection in which the iPod can be played over the vehicles speakers. Many people agree that radio commercials and advertisements are boring, long winded and irritating. Many people say there are too much talk and not enough music on the radio. The iPod car connection can give the driver the freedom to listen to whatever music they would prefer to listen to while they are driving.

A link between the iPod and the vehicle’s sound system is a car connection. There are different products available to assist with this connection. Some of the products produce better sound quality than others. Some of the connections are much more costly than others. Some connections require professional installation while others can be done easily by the vehicle owner.

A highly recommended approach to the car connection is the iPod smart cable connection. This connection is basically a box connected into the compact disk changer jack. A message is transmitted to the radio and the iPod. Models vary and some have an LCD display that can be put on the dash or in the glove box.

Although this alternative produces excellent sound, it is expensive. This system can cost between one hundred and two hundred and fifty dollars. This is installed by the owner and not by a professional.

Another way to make a car connection is through an antenna direct connection to a FM modulator. The vehicles’ antenna fits into the rear of the modulator and the plug from that fits into the rear of the radio. These connections cut the signal. Sound quality is better and getting a professional to install this is a good idea. It typically will cost between thirty and seventy five dollars.

A cassette adapter can make a car connection. The cassette tape is placed into the tape player and the jack is put into the iPod. Someone in the vehicle presses play and the music begins. This is an inexpensive way to car connect the iPod. It generally costs between ten and twenty dollars. This adapter will work with cars with cassette players. However, new car models will not have the cassette player. This connection does produce sound quality that is considered moderate.

There are many types of iPod car connections. These connections can range in price from ten dollars to well over two hundred dollars. Many of these cheaper connections will result in poor sound quality. At least the vehicle driver can listen to the music they love on their iPod but through the vehicle’s speakers.

The top rated connection is the iPod smart cable connection. A vehicle owner who is interested in listening to their iPod in their vehicle should research the topic. Decide which type of option is best for the vehicle and proceed to get the best car connection they can. It is good to know that there are many options available to the vehicle owner.

An ipod car connection will allow you to listen to your ipod in your car. Having music in the car can really change your day. all ipod accessories work with your ipod and sometimes iphone or itouch. Find everything you need for your ipod now!

Should You Buy the iPod Touch or the iPhone?

Like the iPhone before it, the iPod Touch has come a long way without having to deal with many competitors. This is because until quite recently there wasn’t much out there being offered by competing brands that even came close to tackling the capabilities of Apple’s widely popular MP3 Player. Other companies like Microsoft and Sony have thrown in their touch screen players into the ring, but none of them have yet to outshine the iPod Touch.

While other companies are coming out with devices that claim to be better than the iPod Touch in a lot of ways, what they lack is the massive support of thousands of applications that users can download. Consumers know that they can get all kinds of software for their Touch and they know they can get it easily. The competitors are still far from being able to match that, let alone convincing consumers that their offerings are just as good.

And now for a question that has plagued philosophers for far too long. Which is more worthwhile, an iPod Touch, or an iPhone? After all, is an iPod Touch not capable of nearly all the same things? Are those similar features not the main reasons for buying either device in the first place? Solving this problem requires a bit of knowledge, a bit of logic, and a lot of comparison.

Now let’s assume that there really is an option out there for you to get either device. Not everyone is in that situation. Taking into account that most people won’t buy themselves out of an existing contract with a non-iPhone-carrying network, it’s safe to say that a lot of people just can’t consider the iPhone an option right now. If you are one of those people, most every point in favor of the iPhone becomes irrelevant, and you should just be satisfied with the Touch for the time being.

If you were to purchase an iPod Touch today, you’ll likely find that in the next year or so you want to take advantage of all the things you’re missing out on that the iPhone offers. Those things are becoming more practical every day, and more people are expected to have access to such things for work. When this realization hits you, you’ll end up with a second device – iPhone or competing product – that you wouldn’t have needed if you just went a step above the Touch in the first place.

Ask yourself what you’d want the device for. If it’s a phone, you already have one. The iPhone’s phone isn’t anything special, it just happens to be built in. If it’s a camera you want, you likely have that on your current phone. If it’s GPS functionality, maybe the iPhone is for you, though buying one of many other GPS enabled phones for a lot less money is also an option.

With all of that in mind it’s clear why the iPod Touch is the better choice. While people who are in the market for such a device shouldn’t be shy to start shopping around, they shouldn’t be surprised if it’s the Touch that ends up in their cart.

The iPod has revolutionized the way we listen to music. But it’s not just the sound that people are interested in. An iPod can also be a fashion statement, and there are lots of iPod gadgets that can dress up your device. Learn more at Gizmos, Gadgets and Toys.

Looking for iPhone apps to blow the minds of the old folks? Grandma may think the Internet is only a tool to send puppy photos to loved ones, but these apps will make her think differently. Prove to the old folks we’ve reached the age of science fiction technology with the following iPhone apps.

Google Earth – Technology delivers the world, and so does this one, at least virtually if not literally. This iPhone app shows off satellite imagery around the world in a 3D globe. It’s a great way to show off the truly astounding capabilities of the iPhone when you can view Grandma’s front porch and see how her flowers are doing. A free download, this one won’t have you buying the world just to see the earth. Unlike many other iPhone apps, this baby is completely free.

SayWhere – While typing into the iPhone may become habitual after a while, punching in addresses to look up directions is always a pain, especially when you are already lost and frustrated enough. SayWhere was one of the first iPhone apps to translate user’s speech into queries for Traffic, Google Maps, Yellow Pages or Yelp. It’s a great app as it keeps the driver’s eyes on the road rather than the phone.

SmackTalk – Feel like talking to the animals? How about talking just like the animals? This iPhone app lets you talk smack Chihuahua style. While it won’t help you with finances or directions, it’s bound to get you some laughs. The voice changing app turns your voice into a high squeaky guinea pig, puppy or kitten to repeat everything you say in a high pitched squeak or low frequency voice. You’ll sound just like a cartoon. Who said iPhone apps always have to be serious?

James Oliver’s 20 Minute Meals – Once upon a time the only reason you used a phone to cook was to call Mom for directions. This iPhone app goes a step further by putting you in touch with famous chef Jim Oliver. Get full color photos, a video as well as complete step by step instructions for a number gourmet meals to make in 20 minutes. It’s perfect for making a dinner for two. This iPhone app creates meals made easy. You’ll improve your cooking range using your iPhone as a cookbook.

Flight Simulator iPhone Game Reviews: Aera

In our attempt to bring you the best iPhone game reviews, the AppSmile Team has come across one gem that should not be overlooked. Aera, the much-anticipated, side-scrolling, casual flight simulator game from iChromo, has finally hit the app store and it does not disappoint. Beautiful graphics, fluid animation, and terrific controls combine to create an enjoyable experience, whether you are shooting down aircraft or simply taking a scenic flight.

Four planes and three locations are available in Aera. Aerobatic/Solo, Dog Fight, Race, or Free Flight are the missions which you can choose from. Race against the clock in Aerobatic/Solo to collect a set number of objects. Skill is required as you need to avoid the mines and fly through rings in this challenge. Fight against another plane in Dog Fight mode. If the other plane shoots you down first, you lose. But don’t worry, you have guns with a never-ending supply of ammunition and a few rockets. A number of bonuses are awarded for destroying an enemy. Points and rockets are the most common bonus types. In Race mode, simply make it through a course while dodging mines as fast as you can. If you’re feeling lazy and just want to explore, Free Flight mode is where you’ll want to be. Both Campaign mode and Quick Play give you the options to choose Easy, Medium, and Hard difficulty levels.

Although the iPhone is a 2D device, Aera sports nice 3D graphics. All the game sounds are great with realistic propeller sounds and crash audio adding depth. No background music is available, but this isn’t missed since this is more of a simulator than arcade title. You’ll love the controls. The accelerometer handles most of these – tilting your iPhone adjusts the altitude. Give it a jolting shake and your plane will flip 180 degrees. There are controls on-screen which will allow you to adjust the throttle, fire, boost, or switch camera angles. Aera presents all these buttons in an uncluttered array. If you need further help, a tutorial is included along with a walk-through.

Tons of cool features are packed into Aera. If you hit an object, the “TimeBack” adjustment will reverse time for you. This is a nice opportunity to retry that same part of the course. No need to start back at the beginning of the level as this just sets you back a few seconds. This feature proved to be a god-send. Want to see how you did on a completed mission? Just watch the video replay that becomes available at that time. If you’re looking for online multiplayer, this comes in the form of local wi-fi only. Now you can play Dual or Capture the Flag against a friend. A Configuration menu grants the ability to change your craft sensitivity and toggle the Prediction line on or off. This virtual path shows where you’re headed at the current altitude and speed.

If you’re looking for a beautifully combined flight simulator, arcade flier, and side scroller game in the App Store, Aera is your answer. Our favorite mode was Dog Fight for sure. However, Solo mode might be the choice for goal-oriented minds. The game is well presented throughout. We have a lot of fun writing all our iPhone game reviews, but Aera was exceptional. The Aera folks spent much time perfecting this title. It is one that will be replayed over and over again. The in-game Achievements will make sure of that. We can’t wait to unlock all of the aircraft and flight locations. At the current price of $0.99, you cannot afford to miss Aera, a 4-star flight simulator.
