HTC Wildfire, the latest from the HTC stables, is well-equipped with a 528 MHz Qualcomm processor and 3.2 inch touchscreen. Touted to be a hybrid between HTC Desire and Nexus One, the Wildfire is said to fill the void for HTC Tattoo. Even though Wildfire is not drastically different from the rest of the HTC-clan, its 384 MB RAM processor and the 5 megapixel camera are definite upgrades nonetheless.
Wildfire’s design borders closely on the Nexus One and Desire. While its black texture and touch buttons resemble the Nexus One, the earpiece, frame structure and optical trackpad mirror those from the Desire.
Wildfire’s good design notwithstanding, the uneven cut between the frame and the chin lends an awkward look to the cell. The battery can be accessed from the top of the cell where you need to peel the cover while the back has a wide metallic band styling.
There are a few amazing features of the Wildfire which make it much-in-demand. Some of these include built-in Flash Lite, Friend Stream Widget to locate friends, an intuitive text highlighting tool and a Leap button for flipping through pages.
The battery life of the Wildfire is a major plus. It provides almost 12 hours of battery life on 3G connections which includes occasional video recording, music play, web browsing and photo-snapping.
The built-in microphone in the Wildfire is quite below par. However, the supplied hands free kit for earphone plugging acts as a savior. There is also good support for audio file formats, Bluetooth audio and built-in FM radio.
However, the biggest disappointment of the Wildfire is its virtual keyboard. Not only are the keys crammed, the response to typing is really slow and the general intuitive aspect inherent in virtual keyboards is on the almost missing.
The 5 megapixel camera of the cell is the saving grace since it delivers high quality indoor shots. The overall verdict for the HTC Wildfire is on the positive side, but it is not entirely blemish-free!
