Sansa E250 MP3 Player: The Best Way To Have Fun While Traveling

Traveling takes up a lot of our time. Of course you can’t take your car everywhere, so often we have to travel by train or bus. Depending on how far your destination is, this can be either boring, or very boring.

Not all people find it easy to stay in one place, with nothing to keep them occupied, and so, most try to sleep or read a book, watch people or try to hide in the seat and pretend they are not there. Not exactly an easy feat, considering the ambient noise and large number of people around. So, how do you make time pass quicker?

Using the Sansa e250 mp3 player is one option to help the hours pass by faster than just sitting around bored. The hours will just fly by when you’re watching your favorite show, or listening to your favorite music, or browsing around on your player looking for something to do. If your music collection just doesn’t do it for you, the player also has a built in FM tuner, to listen to the radio.

The strong alloy metal casing of the player lets you enjoy your music, and not worry about other people bumping into you and causing you to drop it.

You might find it weird or awkward to wear headphones in a public place, especially if not dressed casually, but why worry about what others think, and not do something you like? Listening to music is not just for teenagers or children. Headphones have also advanced far enough to permit better noise isolation, and so, nothing will disturb your listening experience. A good set of headphones also doesn’t allow the person next to you to hear what you are listening to.

Traveling can be fun, if you have the right “equipment”. The small price of the player is certainly worth it, especially when considering you can spend all that time relaxing yourself. Invest in yourself, for a change!

Geocoding Solutions And The Part They Play In GIS Applications

Geocoding solutions are a very beneficial aspect of technology. There are many applications and ways this technology can be utilized. This type of breakthrough technology can benefit many individuals, both on the large and small scale.

To understand the applications possible for this type of technology, one must first understand what it is. Geocoding is basically software that can gather coordinates, or latitude and longitude, from other geographical information. The potential origins that these coordinates can be obtained from are street addresses or zip codes; otherwise known as postal codes.

Geocoding is utilized in GIS, or Geospatial (sometimes Geographical) Information Systems. GIS is essentially a computer software and hardware which is used for information retrieval purposes. This technology allows individuals to both capture and manage data.

Generally the information obtained by GIS is of a spatial nature. Often geocoding allows GIS to not only obtain and manage the necessary data, but also stores that data for a future use. This stored data can then by analyzed for different purposes. The nature of the analysis greatly depends on the relevant type of the information gathered.

Geocoding in GIS has greatly impacted the way data is now collected, and can be used in various situations. This technology allows for data encoding of different devices. The data can then can be used in several ways, with digital maps or in GPS, also known as Global Positioning Systems.

There are different uses for geocoding and GIS outside of being used in GPS. Aside from the fact that many people can take advantage of this technology for a personal use, the applications can be more far-reaching than the individual. Research and health organizations can utilize geocoding for obtaining various types of information, such as mapping emergency evacuation routs or used for disaster preparedness.

Archaeologists were one of the first groups of people to gain significant benefit from using geocoding. Many from this profession have discovered the software to be very cost effective and accurate. One way it can be utilized by archeologists is by providing a better way to depict past civilization’s habitats, or for other related information specific to this field.

Outside of the fields which study the past, geocoding has aided in playing a significant role with present day issues. One such field that has directly benefited from this technology are crime units. GIS and geocoding allow many in law enforcement to have a better way of mapping crimes, which aids in helping to analyze and visualize crimes.

Aside from the uses that benefit in analyzing information about the past and present, this technological advancement might help benefit the future as well. The nature, availability, and status of water, both today and years in the future, is very important. As such, because of climate change and the higher degree of demand on water, it is necessary for experts to be able to adequately study the hydrology cycle and its relevant impact on water availability. GIS allows for this necessary field of study.

Technology is necessary, and an important aspect in this day and age. It caters to both our wants and needs. Geocoding solutions play a large, and often overlooked, part in the technological world in which we live.

Geographical Information Systems has many uses in today’s world. Main tools that are used by GIS is geocoding software, neighbourhood maps and address verification software.

Canadian Postal Code And Route Mapping

Postal code and route mapping in Canada is a little different from that of the States. In fact, they are undergoing a change in the way they handle their street addresses. One example of this, is in the Burlington area. Most of this area is a part of Rural Route #2 Milton, and Rural Route #6 Milton, and then still Rural Route #3 Campbellville for their mail delivery.

But, while this is true, these areas all still have an address that is a Burlington street address. This fact has caused many to suffer having their mail incorrectly reflect them living in the wrong location. It has made delivery very difficult and confusing. It has also been the cause of loss of access to emergency services. So they decided to change the postal identifier to Burlington so the rural areas will get the same type of mail delivery as everyone else in Burlington.

They began the process of fixing this problem in 2005. Local counselors and Parliament members met with people from the Canada Post and work on a solution to this confusing problem. They had to create brand new postal codes for the rural areas within the Burlington system. Their proposal for their solution did not get approved until 2009.

The postal codes in Canada are managed by the CPC, or the Canada Post Corporation. They provide a link between the codes and their standard Canadian geographic locations to make it easier to use the data. The associations between the standard geographic areas are used for mapping, data retrieval, analysis, or profiling.

The search for solutions to the Canadian postal code problems, led to the development of geocoding. This is a process, that assigns geographic identifiers, or codes, to data records and map features. This allows for data to be linked directly to geography. The intent for postal codes, originally, was to help sort mail quickly and easily, and make delivery more efficient through address verficiation software.

Within the postal code, are indicators for where the delivery is to be made. This could be to a residential mail box, a super box, or a post office box. Also within the code, are the CPC processing facilities and the delivery installations. The first three code characters indicate the FSA, or forward sortation area. This represents a specific area that lies within a larger geographic region.

You can find maps available from the CPC that will show the organizational area that is represented by an FSA. Letter carrier walk maps, or LCWs, usually found on the internet concerning urban deliveries, provide FSA boundaries in relation to road networks. They can be much more helpful than FSA maps for determining FSA boundaries.

Postal code and route mapping in Canada has undergone a lot of change as they try to improve the efficiency of the whole process. It can really get confusing, and it is very hard to understand without some careful study. Postal codes by themselves are not good enough to get an exact location for the service area of the postal code. But the general area can be located by using the FSA.

The leading retailer for address management software solutions offers a variety of analytic and visualization tools, including address databases, postal code map, address verification, and geocoding software. These innovative location intelligence technologies will contribute extensively to your business optimization.

Are People More At Risk Of Identity Theft When They Travel?

Well over seven million people in the United States last year alone were victims of identity theft resulting in about fifty billion dollars of fraudulent credit card, bank, and other financial charges. A large number of these victims were tourists, business travelers, and people on their holidays. Here is some valuable information that may save you a lot of grief when you travel.

It’s very easy for people traveling on vacation to let their guard down. They have a lot on their minds remembering everything they have to take care of before they go and what they need to take with them on vacation. Not only that, all they want is to have fun, unwind, and relax. Isn’t that what a vacation is suppose to be all about? When they’re traveling they don’t want to have to be constantly on guard all time and concerned about getting ripped off every day of their holidays.

There are three serious sources of identity theft that you should be aware of when you travel. They’re your wallet, laptop or PDA, and internet cafes.

Research shows that most identity thefts happen when people’s wallets are stolen, usually by professional pick pockets. Whether you travel on business or vacation you must guard your wallet at all times because you are at more risk than in familiar surroundings. Never carry your wallet in your back pocket – it’s not called the “sucker pocket” for nothing. It’s best to put your wallet in a fanny pack. A number of travelers prefer a fanny pack with a Velcro closure instead of a zippered one because you can hear it being opened. The usual places you will find pickpockets are in crowded areas such as airports, train and bus stations, hotel lobbies, restaurants, and sporting events.

Most people carry more personal information in their wallets then they really need. The first thing that you should do before you travel is to go through your wallet and take out any personal information items that you don’t need when traveling such as bank checks, check books, credit card receipts, bills, and memberships cards such as library cards. You also don’t need to take your social security card as you probably have that number memorized by heart.

Debit cards are a convenient way to take small amounts of cash out of ATM’s when you travel, but they are also a great way for thieves to clean out your bank account if they get a hold of them. One way to reduce this risk is to open up a separate account at your bank before you leave and only put as much day-to-day cash in as you think you might need for your holidays. Take only this debit card with you.

Credit cards are protected by Federal law so are a much better choice to take with you as you are generally covered for any fraudulent charges incurred. Also, if you are over-charged or find an error on any of your credit card transactions when traveling, it’s easier to get the charges corrected or reversed from the card companies. You probably should take two credit cards in case one is lost, or compromised. You can obtain smaller, limited amount prepaid cash cards from Visa, MasterCard, and American Express that are perfect for daily use. You can get these cash cards in any denomination. It’s probably best to purchase a couple of cards with a low limit of five hundred dollars or less each. If the cards are compromised, the credit card companies will replace any lost or pilfered funds. You should leave your major cards and passport in your hotel room safe or the hotel’s safe along with any other personal information that you do not need from day to day.

Before you travel be sure and check that your credit cards won’t expire while you’re on vacation. And be sure to call your credit card issuers to let them know when and where you plan to holiday so they don’t have a conniption fit and cancel your card when they see a credit charge showing up from some place like Timbuktu. Make a note of these phone numbers and take them with you when on vacation.

Another major source of identity theft can start with a stolen laptop. Over six hundred thousand laptops are pilfered or left behind in the U.S. alone, frequently from inattentive travelers in airports, hotel lobbies, and restaurants.

Before you travel, backup your laptop and put the backup disc in a safe place at home or in your safety deposit box at the bank just in case your laptop is stolen or lost. Put a small strip of colored tape on the top and bottom of your laptop and laptop case as most laptops and their cases look very similar in appearance. Write your name, destination address, as well as contact information at your destination on a piece of paper and tape it to your laptop just in case it’s lost at the airport. Don’t put your home address on this piece of paper. It’s better to use your business or work address and phone number. There are a large number of laptops left behind unintentionally. The lost and found offices at airports do not have time to try and gain access to every laptop left behind which are more than likely password protected anyway.

The third major source of identity theft that can happen is at any public computer or internet cafe. Your personal information could be at risk even if you are just sending or accessing e-mails. A key stroke logger could be installed which secretly keeps a record of all passwords, user names, and personal information that is entered on the computer. Even if public computers are not compromised they will still store the information you input in the temporary internet files and history. Never access any bank or credit card account, or pay bills from these computers. Computers located in the business centers of hotels and on cruise ships are generally safer to use than other public computers.

The bottom line is to always be vigilant when you are traveling. Have a safe and fabulous vacation!

The Joys Of Small Printers

Back in the day, traveling with a printer either meant that you were going around with something the size of a small desk in a moving truck (and providing printer support on site to a business), or you were traveling with an ink jet, or you were traveling with a thermal printer, like grocery stores use for printing receipts.

All of these printers had their drawbacks. For instance, thermal printers needed their own special type of paper and the results were often strange. Ink jets gave you good results, but changes in temperature, humidity or set up could have you spending hours cleaning the heads. Similarly, ink jet printing could get very pricey very quickly. These were all problems that you might have had to deal with.

Or, you’d get a ‘laptop’ printer which needed to be babied, and had an average service life between failures of about three months. None of these were particularly great solutions; they tended to make people cranky and make IT departments unhappy at supporting them.

Happily enough, all the recent changes in technology did not leave printers behind. Desktop printers shrunk from 70-pound monsters down to 20 pounds and smaller. Ink jet and lasers printers have shrunk and ink jets have gotten much more stable as to how they can deal with their environment.

The real gem in this lineup is the shrinking laser printer, however. They were initially produced for college students who had little space and these small personal printers worked out quite nicely, produce pages in the rage of 12 per minute. They had good durability cycles and they could be packed up tidily at the end of the semester.

Cost per page on consumables for a laser is about 7 cents per black and white page with 10% coverage – typical reports (or papers) won’t strain them. For some of the more robust photo printers, the cost per page is upwards of a dollar, but it is kind of neat to be able to print out hard copies of your photos on your vacation while you’re there.

When we say that these things are small – we mean it. The HP 1006 Personal LaserJet is tiny – it’s a bit bigger than a toaster. It gets thrown into the demo kit when we go to trade shows, so that we can print sales reports and data sheets on the fly for customers. It measures about 14″ wide by 8″ deep by 9″ tall, and it folds up readily into its box.

While it has a pass through tray, we’ve found that it’s a pain to use, and so hardly ever use it. However, the ease of connection, the general utility and the low cost of the consumables (the type 35A standard print cartridge) means that it’s a clear winner when it comes to portable business printing.

The market for small small mobile printers is still in its infant stage and you will need to be careful before purchasing a portable printer. If you’re in a hurry read our review of the Hewlett Packard h47wbt mobile printer. It has received raving reviews from a lot of people.

Learning the Spanish Language with Fluenz

Is it hard to learn Spanish? This kind of inquiry is not always simple to solve. Many factors decide the success of how much an individual will get from studying Spanish. Individual effort put in by a person in the procedure has a huge role. Another crucial thing is the structured learning program necessary to instill the talents required for learning the Spanish language. Individuals with an interest in taking Spanish classes or courses who don’t have the time required for success can use Fluenz Spanish. It continues to be a really ideal source of learning for individuals wanting to learn Spanish. This is one of the better “at home” Spanish language courses which covers conversational Spanish fundamentals in a nicely structured way.

The Features

The Spanish language courses presented in Fluenz Spanish are quite varied and can appeal to various different students that maintain different learning requirements. For example, some students will respond better to visual presentations and the inclusion of course DVDs is quite helpful in this regard. Those learners that respond better to audio material will be happy to discover that there are audio CD’s included which are a great help as well. Also included with this system are a number of integrated computer software systems. These systems are designed to rapidly promote interactive learning that will enhance the Spanish language course material. For example, there are voice recording “workout” sessions available which can lead to making your venture expand as positively as humanly possible. That alone makes taking part in a Fluenz Spanish language course so valuable.

The bulk of the Spanish language courses in this Fluenz system centers mostly on the very basic components of introductory Spanish. To say that the amount is comprehensive would be an understatement. There are 30 sessions that entail two and a half hours of material per each session. That covers a tremendous amount of material! The negative to these Spanish language courses is the fact that the material does not venture into the intermediate level. Those that are looking for basic conversational language skills will not be disappointed but those looking for advanced material such as business language skills may be disappointed.

And, of course, the ability to navigate the program will often center on the user’s skill and knowledge of computer systems. Those that have trouble installing and running software will need to take a few extra steps to run the program more effectively. Yes, this can involve a time commitment and, possibly, a little stumbling along the way. However, the extra effort will be worth it since the end result will be the ability to speak and comprehend basic Spanish on a conversational level. And yes, you have the ability to do this in the comfort of you own home.

Overall Looks

Overall, the advantages of the Fluenz Spanish language course outweigh its minor disadvantages. This is an outstanding self-study course, and well worth your investment.

Electronic Bug Zapper

The indoor insect zapper is the best way of clearing your immediate vicinity of insects, especially the flying ones such as mosquitoes. The indoor insect zapper vaporizes any insect from a mosquito to a gnat instantly on contact with a nice, loud, electrical ‘zap’!

However, this is not to say that the electric bug killer cannot be used outside, so long as it is not too wet. It should be handled just like any other high voltage electrical item. Keep the electric bug zapper dry and please do not use it when you are standing in water!

Models do vary a lot, but there are really only two kinds of hand held insect killer: the battery operated bug zapper and the rechargeable electric bug killer. Both are equally effective at zapping insects and employ the same principle.

The indoor insect killer looks like a ‘junior’ tennis racket, but with three layers of ’strings’, which are in fact wires. The central network of wires becomes live at the touch of a button while the other two grids, one on either side, are earths.

When an insect is caught between the wires of the indoor bug killer, it creates a short, which evaporates it instantaneously with a loud crack. The indoor insect zapper will kill other insects too, but they tend to burn rather than explode.

I have been using the rechargeable sort for five years and am extremely satisfied with the electric bug zapper. In fact, the electric bug zapper has come a long way over the last few years. A fully charged indoor bug zapper is powerful enough to last for several hundred swipes and will hold it’s charge, when unused, for weeks without any appreciable discharge.

The battery recharge pack will take intensive use for the best part of a year, although its ability to hold a charge for a few weeks slowly reduces after six or seven months.

The most recent indoor insect zapper I’ve used has a main on/off switch, a light that comes on when it is activated (the brightness of this light also indicates the battery’s strength) and an LED that comes on when it is plugged in on recharge.

The instructions say that the bug zapper should be (re)charged for about sixteen hours. However, I usually put it on charge over night once or twice every week or two, although the indoor insect zapper shows a large increase in performance after only a few hours recharging.

The latest model I’ve used also comes with a powerful light called a ‘headlamp’. I have found this very handy when walking in the garden, but I’m unsure whether it’s meant to lure the flies in the dark so that you can kill them if you’re feeling bored or just vindictive, rather like an Anglerfish.

I’ve used the headlamp on my electric bug zapper for that too, but the beam uses a lot of battery power. All in all, the hand held insect killer is a big asset to any outdoor event. The hand held bug killer is useful to ‘clean out’ your bedroom before retiring; it’s unbeatable for evening mosquitoes and it will clear a lunch table of wasps too.

Have you ever heard of an indoor bug zapper? If not, or if you are interested in getting an electronic insect killer, just click one of the hyperlinks to our website or blog. This and other unique content ” articles are available with free reprint rights.
